Running For the Athletics Program
At DCA, we organize several fundraisers to support the Christian education we offer throughout the year, but this one in particular is a lot of fun!
The Stag Stampede is a summer 5K running (and walking) event that serves as a fundraiser for DCA’s athletics program. It breathes an energetic life back into our typically sleepy campus during the off-season, serving participants with a day filled with physical feats, friendly competition, and maybe a snack or two at a food booth.
Last year was our inaugural race, and what a great time it was. On a beautiful late-summer morning, we had over 60 runners and walkers participate, including community runners with no prior connection to DCA. We were able to raise over $5,000 that first year, thanks to the help of our participants and our 17+ sponsors, ranging from individuals to local businesses and DCA family businesses.
As we prepare for this year’s Stampede, we wanted to inform you about the ways the race supports the athletics program and how you can participate as a runner, volunteer, or Stampede sponsor for an event that helps make athletics possible at DCA.
Stampeding For Sports
So, how did the Stag Stampede originate, and what role does it play in supporting the athletics program?
Funds for athletics are not figured into the school tuition. Although our athletes are charged a nominal fee for each sport they participate in, this still does not cover all required expenses, such as uniforms, transportation, gym rentals, and hiring referees to officiate the games. The balance requires fundraising.

Our athletics fundraiser was once a completely different event altogether. After holding a golf tournament for several years, we later hosted the Winnipo Century Ride, organized by a DCA board member, which was a 100-mile cycling fundraiser event that had a race endpoint in Alton Bay, NH. When that property was sold and the event was no longer possible, we prayerfully considered how to replace it.
We knew we wanted an event that wasn’t only a fundraiser, but a fun experience for DCA students, families, and our community. And so, the concept of the 5K race was born. Lastly, it needed a name. Through a naming contest we held last year, the name Stag Stampede was selected, a submission made by our own Erick Duprey. The rest, as they say, is history.
How Students and Families Can Participate
Our students and families can participate in the event in a few different ways.
The first, of course, is that they can participate in the race itself. They can run, walk, or even push a baby stroller on “the loop,” the infamous 5K training run that serves as a rite of passage for our athletes. Participants can register online with early-bird specials through July 30, standard fees through August 28, or race-day fees on the day of the event. A free fun run will also be available.
For those looking to help during the event, we could always use some volunteers! We rely on volunteers to man our water stations, our registration tent, and other family activity areas. Contact our event coordinator to learn more about our event and how you can help.

How to Become a Stampede Sponsor
Perhaps instead of lacing up your racing shoes, you would like to partner with us as a Stampede Sponsor.
We have several options for local businesses to become sponsors. Our multi-level sponsorships offer advertisements at the race and social media recognition on an escalating scale with each level of sponsorship.
Also available are a timing sponsor for the primary race and a fun run sponsor (only one sponsor is permitted for each), offering unique perks on race day and social media exposure.
Lastly, we have our water station and mile markers sponsors for businesses who would like to see their names and logos on “the loop.” For more details on sponsorships or to sign up, please visit the Stag Stampede page of our website. Thank you for considering becoming a sponsor!
Running for a Good Cause
As we look forward to our 2nd annual Stag Stampede on August 30, 2025, we reflect on the ever-generous support of our community that keeps our athletics program running strong.

It is because of you—our students, families, and local businesses—that we can run a successful program that teaches our athletes the treasured lessons of hard work and teamwork on the court and in our world as Christians.
As we compete in this earthly race, we are reminded of the spiritual race that the apostle Paul calls us to complete as well—finishing the task of sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.
“But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.” Acts 20:24 (NKJV)
If you have any questions about the Stag Stampede or would like to learn more about Dublin Christian Academy, please don’t hesitate to contact us—we’d be happy to share more about what we do here. Hope to see you at the race!
