Empowering Futures at DCA This Giving Tuesday
Few days embody the spirit of giving better than a day named after it: Giving Tuesday.
The movement was founded in 2012 by Henry Timms, President and CEO of the Lincoln Center for the Arts. It is always celebrated five days after Thanksgiving (the Tuesday after Thanksgiving). Giving Tuesday was created to stir up community involvement while practicing the spirit of giving. What began as a spark in New York City became a global crusade, with nearly 100 countries now participating in a day of doing good toward others.
Here at Dublin Christian Academy, our generous donors have made no exception to this movement of kindness. Each year, different needs are met because of the donations made on this special day.
Let’s look at how Giving Tuesday has significantly impacted DCA in the past and what it has in store for us in 2024.
Fundraising for Kingdom Work at DCA
For years, DCA has been blessed by families and friends who help us achieve a common goal: nurturing hearts, training minds, and encouraging growth in each student’s heart and mind.
Many donors go above and beyond by contributing to Giving Tuesday, which is independent of our other fundraisers. Our Giving Tuesday fundraiser supports needs that fall outside of our typical annual fund or capital fund expenditures.
Below, you’ll find many different needs that have been met in past years.

How God Has Blessed DCA Through Giving Tuesday in the Past
The needs met through Giving Tuesday evolve annually—some are thrilling and fun, while others, though more routine, are just as crucial to the school’s well-being. Here are a few examples of projects that have been funded in past years:
- 2019: We purchased a new, reliable sander to keep our roads and sidewalks safe. Not only has winter storm management been more manageable, but it has also saved our facilities staff a lot of time and effort, allowing them to redirect their energies to other projects.
- 2020: This year’s met need was particularly heartwarming—we raised enough funds to provide scholarships for four more students to attend DCA who otherwise would not have had the resources to do so. A parent of one of these students said, “We have prayed for God to make a way for our family, and we recognize and are blessed by His work through you.” Awesome stuff!
- 2021: We had a “good problem” in 2021—many applicants sought an education at DCA that year (good). However, due to classroom space limitations, we unfortunately had to turn some students away (the problem). Funds received went to the lower floor of the classroom building, where new instructional spaces were created. Common Grounds, our student coffee and snack shop, also expanded later in the year.
- 2022: If there’s one thing our preschool and kindergarten students love to do, it’s play! However, their worn-out playground equipment not only needed repairs, but equipment replacement was also necessary to maintain safety while having fun. Funds used this year accomplished just that, and our littles love their new play area.
- 2023: Our youngest students aren’t the only ones who like to have fun! 2023 brought in new playground equipment for the lower school’s main playground as well. Funds taken in helped create a new space for safe recreation and fun for our students in grades 1-6.

Giving Tuesday 2024
While this article was being written, we experienced something extraordinary. Our 2024 Giving Tuesday project was restoring our water supply to the main campus that had quit entirely. We were in such dire straits that we reached out to the community an entire month earlier than planned in hopes that we could raise the funds needed. We needed a miracle.
The community responded.
In about 24 hours, the project (which we estimated would cost about $13,500) was fully funded. FULLY funded! We thank God and His provisions and the generous givers He has put in our path. Talk about an answer to prayer!
Because of this incredible turn of events with our emergency need completely taken care of, we have a new opportunity to follow through on this Giving Tuesday—blessing our staff.
Any additional funds received this year will be used for gifts of appreciation for our faculty and staff to say “thank you” for their hard work and dedication to DCA and its students. It’s an occasion that was made possible because of the fast-acting, abundant generosity of our DCA family and friends. Thank you.
We Are Stronger Because of Our Community
At times, it truly takes a dedicated force. Dublin Christian Academy has countless devoted benefactors who identify a need and do whatever it takes to fulfill the mission: to bring excellent, godly education to nurture, train, and grow the next generation of Christian leaders in the Monadnock Region and beyond.
Perhaps God has put it on your heart to donate this Giving Tuesday. To give or to receive more information, please visit dublinchristian.org/givingtuesday. We thank you in advance for your desire to join our mission here at DCA.
“But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.” Hebrews 13:16 (NKJV)
